How to Change Address in IGNOU?

For the offline method, visit your respective Regional Centre to get the form and follow the procedure mentioned by the authorities. You can follow these steps to make the necessary changes to your address online. 

Step – 1 – Visit your respective Regional Centre website.

Step – 2 – Go to RC Services and select the option to Change Name, Address, RC, Study Centre

Step – 3 – In a new tab, you must use your ID and password to enter your profile.

Step – 4 – Search and click on Update Address to proceed.

Step – 5 – Enter your new address.

Step – 6 – Upload all the required documents such as your address proof, and ID proof for the address change.

Step – 7 – Go through all the details carefully and submit the form.

Step – 8 – Download the acknowledgment for reference. 

Students can also make the changes in their address through the Samarth Portal using this process.

Step – 1 – Visit the Samarth Portal https://ignou.samarth.edu.in and login with your credentials.

Step – 2 – Now click on Academic and then Students.

Step – 3 – You will get the option of Address Change in the Student Services section.

Step – 4 – Fill out the form for address change and upload the necessary documents.

Once you have raised the request for an address change, the university will soon update your new address in your profile.

To change in address, you must submit these documents along with the address changing form to the university:

  • Aadhar Card
  • Any other documents approved and registered by the Government of India.

IGNOU Name Correction Form

Similar to address change, you will get a form for name change also from the Regional Centre. The name change procedure may seem a bit different. However, follow the procedure carefully to make successful changes in your name smoothly. 

How to Change Name in IGNOU?

Visit the Regional Centre and ask for the Name change form and the authorities will help you with the necessary actions. If you are changing the name online, here are the steps to follow. 

Step – 1 – First, get an affidavit mentioning both the old name and the new name. 

Step – 2 – Get the name signed by a public notary.

Step – 3 – Now visit the IGNOU Regional Centre and go for RC Services

Step – 4 – Click on Change in Name, Address, RC, Study Centre

Step – 5 – Log into your account and click on Change Name.

Step – 6 – On the form that comes up, provide details such as the old name, new name, and reasons for the change. 

Step – 7 – Now upload the necessary documents such as a marriage certificate in case of marriage, and an affidavit in case of other reasons along with your name proof and identity documents. 

Step – 8 – Submit the form and download the acknowledgment slip. 

Here is a complete list of documents that you must upload along with the Name Correction form according to the type of corrections you are making:

  • For correction in spelling or addition and deletion of your surname, you must provide your self-attest Class 10th Mark Sheet from any recognized university, or Aadhar Card.
  • For a change in surname, middle name, or in full name, you must provide a newspaper cutting of at least 2 well-known newspapers stating that you have advertised for the changes.
  • You can also provide an affidavit or Gazette Notification for change in your name.
  • For surname change post-marriage, you must provide a self-attested copy of your marriage certificate.

IGNOU allows address change and name correction with an easy procedure through their Regional Centre Services.
